Sabbatical Coaching

A holy space for resting in God

So then, a Sabbath rest still remains for the people of God, for those who enter God’s rest also rest from their labors as God did from his. Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.

Hebrews 4:9-11

What is a Sabbatical?

Sabbatical comes from the Hebrew שַׁבָּת Šabat, or “Sabbath.” The concept of a sabbatical originates in Leviticus 25:1-7, when God tells Moses to instruct the Israelites to let the land rest every seven years for a year. Just as our Creator knows our bodies, minds, and spirits need a rest every seven days, so does he know that land worked to produce a harvest needs to rest periodically. We do, too, dear one. You have been laboring to produce the fruit of God’s kingdom. God desires a sabbatical rest for you.

Your Sabbatical, an extended period of rest from your vocation, is a gift from God. Above all else, a sabbatical is meant to be restful. As we both know, this can be easier said than done. Rest looks and feels different for each person, and it’s easy to default into productivity mode without an intentional rhythm and companion for your set-apart season.

You are God’s unique creation. Discovering what invites rest and renewal for you is part of the purpose of Sabbatical Coaching. We can help you design and curate an intentional process, customized to your desires and needs, with flexibility to make changes as discerned. The goal is a truly life-giving, restful, and renewing experience that refreshes you for returning to your vocation as rich, fertile soil.
